It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the record chasers, are what's still available for a side that has won it all.

It needed as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their batsmen to hold a record if not provided the opportunity.

In the end, the outcome of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy getting a chance to produce her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her bow and seven international trophies have come from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fail again.

If this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the argument supporting final game tension. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was far harder to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this performance was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it's been a frustrating experience because it appeared I've had no rhythm whatsoever," said Healy.

"However when you take the field, your fighting spirit take over and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single came off the opening delivery and from that point Healy was underway.

"A chance to play and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun that way, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was dismissed the team required another 66 at one run per ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the assurance to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we are confident we can succeed."

That comment will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship should hear.

In recent days a sense they will win from any position has become more firm - this victory coming after win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated through the pain.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those injuries have postponed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as captain.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
